The Shadow Minister for Community Services says Australia will be a better country when it knows its history, including the Frontier Wars.

The comment comes following the release of a research project by The Guardian Australia called The Killing Times which looks into stories around massacres and aims to spur a truth telling process.

A truth telling process is a part of the key recommendations stemming from the Uluru Statement which also called for treaty and a constitutionally enshrined Indigenous voice to Parliament.

Wiradjuri woman Linda Burney is the federal member for Barton and says truth telling is happening in some places at the local level but it needs to be happening across the country.
