A Stolen Generations survivor says compensation for the past Government policy should have been done straight away.
The comment comes as the nation marks the 10th anniversary of the apology to the Stolen Generations by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
Compensation was one of many recommendations stemming from the Bringing Them Home Report tabled in Parliament in 1997.
Since the report’s release, national leadership on compensation has been absent.
Susan Moylan Coombs is the founding director of the Gaimaragal Group and says at the time of the apology, compensation was not in the conversation.
