An Indigenous carbon farming course has garnered support from industry and political leaders in a bid to promote investment in First Nations fire practices.
The Aboriginal Carbon Fund has teamed up with the Centre for Appropriate Technology and Caritas Australia in developing a training course for First Nations rangers and Traditional Owners interested in carbon farming.
The initiative, which aims to arm First Nations fire practitioners with the know-how to take advantage of the carbon trading industry, has been endorsed by Indigenous bodies across northern Australia as well as the Queensland Government and QANTAS.
General Manager for the Aboriginal Carbon Fund and Butchulla man, Rowan Foley says businesses can support First Nations people managing land by purchasing their carbon credits.
