In NSW there are concerns for the wellbeing of a young Goomeroi man who has been missing in bushland outside of Moree since the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police say they attempted to speak to the man after a vehicle he was travelling in was found bogged on the Carnarvon Highway but allege he ran and was seen entering the Gwydir River.
A search involving crews from Fire and Rescue NSW, the NSW Rural Fire Service and the SES has not been able to locate the man.
A critical incident team has been dispatched from Oxley to investigate the incident which will be overseen by the Professional Standards Command.
A family member told NIRS news they were ‘frustrated’ by mixed messages they had received from police during the search and just want to see the young Goomeroi man return home safely.
