A First Nations Historian and Photographer says many monuments and statues around the country were put up for political reasons.
The comment comes as the removal of racist statues has caught the attention of people around the world, with some statues being defaced or torn down.
Michael Aird works within the area of Aboriginal arts and cultural heritage and spoke to the Brisbane Indigenous Media Association about whether these statues should be removed.
