Researchers from Neuroscience Research Australia are exploring a possible link between a high level of childhood trauma and dementia.

The research has followed a group of around 300 First Nations people aged 60 and over, finding that those who experienced high levels of childhood trauma were three times more likely to develop dementia than their mainstream counterparts.

While the data used for the research was collected five years ago and Dr Kylie Radford says the link isn’t confirmed so more work needs to be done.
