The National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples say they are the best placed organisation to be the First Nations voice to parliament following the Uluru Statement.

Last week’s Uluru summit looking at Constitutional Recognition for First Nations people released a statement calling for an Indigenous voice to parliament to be enshrined into the constitution.

Co-Chair of Congress Jackie Huggins says their constituency base make them suited to be that national body.

It is not yet known what the Uluru Statement’s vision of an Indigenous voice to parliament would look like until the final report is released later this month.
