The remains of three Aboriginal Tasmanian’s that were taken to the Australian National University in the 1900s have been brought home.

The remains were taken from a burial site by archaeologists and have remained in the Canberra university ever since.

The Indigenous community they are being returned to know exactly where the remains were originally taken from, but the location will remain a secret.

Tasmanian Aboriginal man Jarrod Edwards helped to bring the remains back to country.

Aboriginal rights activist and Palawa man Michael Mansell says upcoming changes to the Aboriginal Relics Act in the state need to ensure Indigenous remains cannot be removed.
