A joint press release by the Indigenous and community legal sectors have welcomed the UN’s Universal Periodic Review shining a light on Australia’s human rights record.
This week Australia faced criticism from around the world for it’s treatment of First Nations people with more than 30 countries calling for Australia to raise the age of criminal responsibility.
Australia was scrutinised for deaths in custody, police brutality and youth incarceration.
UN Members also called on Australia to consult with First Nations organisations on constitutional recognition and a voice to parliament.
