Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has confirmed his standing as one of the greatest athletes of all time at the Rio Olympics after Monday mornings 100 metre sprint final.

The 29 year old ran away from the field before easing in the final metres to win the gold medal with a time of 9.81 seconds, ahead of Americans Justin Gatlin in second place.

The win will see Bolt go down in history for his three consecutive 100 metre Olympic gold medals.
