Gurindji Freedom Day Festival

The annual Gurindji Freedom Day Festival recognises the achievements of Gurindji people and their fight for human rights and their country.

The 1966 Wave Hill walk off led by Vincent Lingiari paved the way for land rights, equal pay and is a powerful representation of Aboriginal self-determination.

“I bin thinkin’ this bin Gurindji country. We bin here longa time before them Vestey mob.” Vincent Lingiari, 1966

CAAMA is providing a special broadcast of the event and live coverage of the concert on Saturday 23rd August, 2025.
