New South Wales government has granted Native Title to the Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council over the controversial Kingscliff site Lot 490 to enable it be returned to Bundjalung people.

The journey to obtaining this parcel of land was delayed due to legislative and political changes over the past 30 years.   

The CEO of the Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council Leweena Williams says the granting of rights to Lot 490 is especially significant given last year's fight to stop the Crown Lands Amendment Bill.
