Federal Labor Opposition has announced a $60 million package, if elected, to help cover the cost for those fleeing violent situations.

The money will come from the Banking Fairness Fund, covering up to 20,000 assistance packages and will be directed through existing family violence services.

Shadow Minister for Community Services and Wiradjuri woman, Linda Burney say the packages will cover practical things.

The Federal Government has since announced $328 million in funding for combating domestic violence including prevention strategies, front line services and safe places.
